Long before he founded Chow Town Food Tours, Max was a kid growing up in the Garden State in the 80's. Back then, meals were served at eye level. He couldn't quite reach the good stuff. Well, he has come a long way. Today, he can reach anything on the table, and it shows! Max is a foodie who can't wait to share the best of his home turf -- suburban New Jersey -- with you, the newest citizens of Chow Town.

Story
The Main Ingredient
Max went on his first food tour of the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris in 2015. Later, he woke from his food coma with a burning question in his mind.
Why did Paris have a food tour -- several, in fact -- but the deep Jersey suburbs, where he grew up, had none? What the heck was that about?

It was time somebody -- somebody local, somebody knowledgeable, even a Jersey guy, perhaps -- changed that.
Yes, Chef!
That simple idea kicked off a wild ride. It turned out there was a lot more to running a small business than just sampling the food. There were restaurants to recruit, chefs to learn from, and a whole lot of work behind the scenes. But only a few months later, Chow Town Food Tours was born.

Chow Town launched in early 2024 with a modest walking tour of South Orange, NJ. Soon enough, people from all over the state and the region were showing up to taste what South Orange was cooking.
The Rest Is... Delicious
By the end of the year, the business had expanded to include a tour of Montclair. Soon after, tours of Morristown and Madison. In 2025, Chow Town hosted its first tour of Denville, with more to come in 2026 -- a very big year for Jersey, the year the World Cup comes to the Meadowlands!

We have already made so many great friends and learned so much from the chefs, restaurant staff, and small businesses that make Jersey such a culinary wonderland. It's the food that keeps drawing us in, but it's the people who make every experience truly memorable. As we like to say -- good food, good people, good times.
